LEAKY CENTER JOINT? HOW CAN I BE SURE? 

A few tell tale signs of a leaky center joint are easily visible upon inspection. Is hydraulic oil leaking from your swing bearing area?  Your on the right track. Lets dive in to some troubleshooting to verify the center joint is the cause! 99% of the time, hydraulic oil present in the swing cavity is from the joint.

Is it gear or hydraulic oil? The two oils point towards different faulty components. ​A hydraulic leak from the bearing area, with a swing gearbox reading gear oil at its correct level, always points towards a rotary as being the culprit to the hydraulic oil leak.

When installing a new center joint, remember to drain all oil from the rotec tub via the bottom access plate. Re apply moly grease to tub area when finished, and you're off running!
